The European Union (EU) announced its intentions to support the Somali budget with a donation of over $21 million.
The donation is part of the $94.69 million that the organization donated towards aid to the East African nation.
Jutta Urpilainen, the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, announced the donation on Sunday.
“The donation is proof of the solid partnership that the EU enjoys with Somalia,” said Urpilainen.
Abshir Omar Jama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, commended the EU for the amazing support and donation.
EU’s donation emerged a short while after the Somali cabinet approved a budget worth over $1 billion for the 2023/24 financial year.
