The European Union has welcomed the resumption of talks between Somalia and Somaliland in Djibouti this week.
President Musa Bihi Abdi of Somaliland and President Mohamed Farmaajo met on Sunday at the invitation of President Ismail Guelleh of Djibouti.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia and the US Ambassador to Somalia, Donald Yamamoto, also attended the meeting.
The EU described the meeting as an “important positive first step” in normalizing relations between the two Horn of African countries.
Bihi and Farmaajo committed themselves to ensuring that nothing stands in the way of the peace process.
