Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union (EU), has hit out at the lack of agreement on Somalia elections.
On February 8, Borrell issued a press statement to this effect.
He called the inability by leaders in Somalia an “extremely serious” risk for the stability of the East African nation.
Further, he urged political leaders to act in the best interests of the people of Somalia.
Borrell encouraged the country’s leadership to continue engaging in constructive discussions to find solutions to the crippling impasse.
In his view, Somalia has no option than to implement the elections agreement signed on September 17, 2021.
