The eviction of people who have been living at the headquarters of the Fire Brigade in Mogadishu is currently underway.
A spokesperson from the Somali Police Force (SPF) confirmed that the operation is in progress.
Currently, the fire brigade headquarters has been turned into a residential place. However, the government wants it cleared of all residents so that it return to its original use.
On Monday, it was full of bulldozers pulling down and destroying residential houses.
Many residents were seen rescuing and moving out of their homes with whatever items or assets they could carry.
Several residents reported being forced out without any prior notice.,
Nevertheless, the police spokesperson added that the residents had been accorded ample time to seek alternative accommodation elsewhere.
