Ex-Danab Commander Hails New USSOCOM Chief

Mogadishu, Somalia – Brigadier General Ahmed Abdullahi Sheikh, former commander of Somalia’s elite Danab Forces, has extended his congratulations to Admiral Frank Mitchell Bradley following his confirmation as the next head of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

Brig. Gen. Sheikh, who has known Adm. Bradley for over 15 years, described him as a leader of exceptional caliber whose career in Special Operations reflects unwavering commitment and professionalism.

“His appointment inspires great confidence that he will excel in this pivotal command,” Sheikh said, adding that he could personally attest to Bradley’s integrity and dedication, both as a respected officer and as a valued friend.

Adm. Bradley’s leadership of USSOCOM will place him at the helm of America’s most specialized and strategically critical military units, tasked with counterterrorism, unconventional warfare, and global special operations missions. Brig. Gen. Sheikh’s public endorsement underscores the strong professional ties between Somali and U.S. special forces, forged through years of joint training and counterterrorism operations against Al-Shabaab.

Sheikh’s remarks signal optimism that the new USSOCOM leadership will continue to strengthen this partnership in the fight against violent extremism in the Horn of Africa.
