Ex-PM Roble Warns Against Rigging of Next Year’s Elections in Somalia

Mogadishu – Former Somali Prime Minister and presidential hopeful Mohamed Hussein Roble has firmly declared that “rigging elections is a red line and a no-go zone,” signaling a renewed opposition push for electoral integrity.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Mogadishu on Monday evening, Roble confirmed that plans are underway to hold a major opposition conference. The gathering aims to “rescue the nation from drifting into one-man rule,” he said, in an apparent critique of current political developments.

The former premier’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the transparency of Somalia’s electoral process and fears of increasing authoritarianism. The upcoming conference is expected to unite key opposition figures to chart a way forward for democratic reforms.
