Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has reiterated his unwavering support for the Somali National Army (SNA) in its ongoing battle against terrorism, praising soldiers as “heroes who confront evil on behalf of the Somali people.”
In a strongly worded appeal, Farmaajo called on Somalia’s political leaders to prioritize national unity and inclusive governance, emphasizing that this is a critical moment for the country’s stability. “The Somali National Army has shown immense bravery in defending our nation from the scourge of terrorism,” he said. “They sacrifice daily to protect our sovereignty and secure our future. We must stand with them—not just in words, but through tangible support and solidarity.”
He also urged the country’s leadership to rise above divisions and focus on reconciliation, inclusive politics, and constructive constitutional dialogue. “At this pivotal juncture, political leaders must set aside narrow interests and work toward a united Somalia,” Farmaajo stressed. “Only through dialogue, consensus, and a commitment to the rule of law can we ensure lasting peace and progress.”
His remarks come amid heightened tensions in Somali politics, with ongoing debates over constitutional reforms, federalism, and security strategy against Al-Shabaab. Farmaajo’s statement appears to be both a show of support for the military and a call for political cohesion as Somalia navigates complex challenges.
