Ex-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has congratulated the regional state of Jubbaland for concluding its House of the People (Lower House) elections.
Jubbaland held elections for its 16 remaining Lower House seats on April 22-23.
The elections took place in El-Wak.
Earlier, there had been fears that the regional state would conduct parallel elections in Garbajarey
Some officials from the Federal Elections Implementation Team (FEIT) traveled to Garbaharey for that purpose.
However, Muse Gelle, the Chairman of FEIT, warned the officials to desist from conducting parallel polls.
Ex-President Mohamud commended FEIT and Jubbaland’s State Elections Implementation Team (SEIT) for working together to make the polls a success.
The newly elected Jubbaland legislators now join their colleagues at the federal parliament in Mogadishu to elect the new Speaker and Deputy Speakers.
