A former President of the regional state of HirShabelle has been appointed the new Deputy Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
Mohamed Abdi Ware expressed gratitude to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for his appointment.
He was appointed during the 41st Extraordinary Summit of the IGAD Heads of State and Government on Saturday.
Ware thanked President Mohamud for nominating him. He thanked the other Heads of State and Government for approving him as the Deputy Executive Secretary.
Prior to this, Ware had served as the Special Presidential Envoy for Stabilization and Civil Protection.
