A former President of Somalia has warned President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo against conducting a partial election in the country.
Ex-President Hassan Sheikh warned Farmaajo that he risked jeopardizing the country’s stability and unity by proceeding with the partial elections.
Earlier on January 9, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble announced that elections would proceed in four regions as soon as possible.
He listed the four regions as Galmudug, Southwest, HirShabelle, and Benadir.
The Prime Minister told the country that elections would not take place in either Jubbaland or Puntland for the time being.
Roble failed to provide reasons for elections not taking place in Puntland or Jubbaland, though.
Later on Saturday, ex-President Sheikh advised Farmaajo and his Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) administration against such a move.
Sheikh said this while addressing a press conference specifically to address this developing issue.
