Ex-Somali President Donates $20,000 to the National Drought Committee

A former President of the Federal Republic of Somalia has donated $20,000 to the National Drought Committee.

Ex-President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed donated the funds to the National Drought Committee on February 26.

While making the donation, ex-President Ahmed stated that the money would mitigate the devastating effects of the drought.

The drought has affected close to 4.5 million Somalis in the country.

It has displaced hundreds of thousands of families with estimates indicating that the number could be as high as 250,000.

Ahmed urged other Somalis to continue making financial donations to help their fellow citizens.
