A former President of the Federal Republic of Somalia said that the anti-government rally planned by the opposition in Mogadishu on February 19 would be peaceful.
Ex-President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed said this on Thursday when addressing members of the press in Mogadishu.
He had visited the Unknown Soldier’s Monument in Mogadishu with other opposition leaders.
The monument is to be the scene of the protests by organization designed to voice their displeasure at the government for inability to hold elections.
Consequently, Ahmed urged security forces not to disrupt the peaceful protests.
In his view, the protests would enable the country to embrace proper governance, law, and order.
