Experts have warned that the diplomatic differences between Kenya and Somalia are a massive threat to regional peace.
Security and diplomatic experts in the region said that the tiff between the two East African neighbors could undermine the gains made over the years.
They also emphasized that any escalation of diplomatic spat between Somalia and Kenya or Somalia and Ethiopia gives the Al-Shabaab motivation to carry out further attacks.
Brig. Gen. (Rtd) Ahmed Mohamed, Horn Institute’s Senior Advisor on Defense and Security, warned the two Horn of Africa nations to go easy on their diplomatic squabbles.
Mustafa Ali, the Chairman of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, corroborated Brig. Gen. Mohamed’s sentiments.
Further, Ali encouraged President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to be careful with his actions against Kenya.
Ali warned Farmaajo to stop treading on dangerous grounds.
