Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) together with EU Humanitarian Aid is in Somaliland to tackle the locust menace.
According to the two organizations, Somaliland remains a key breeding ground for locusts.
On Tuesday, September 22, the two organizations launched an exercise that would see them battle the desert locusts from the skies.
They also announced that surveillance operations would continue in the country simultaneously with effective aerial control measures.
Desert locusts first invaded Somaliland and the Horn of Africa region towards the end of 2019.
Since then, they have remained a huge menace in the region and spread their presence to several countries in Asia too.
