The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) collaborates with the Gates Foundation to provide farmers in Somalia with finances, seeds, and farming equipment.
FAO issued a press release on November 25 informing farmers in the country of plans to continue supporting them.
The organization said that its support is towards farmers affected by the desert locust invasion.
In 2020, Somali farmers have suffered huge losses from challenges presented by desert locust invasion, floods, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Consequently, the global body partnered with the Gates Foundation to extend financial aid to the farmers.
Apart from monetary assistance, farmers have also received quality seeds, training, and farming tools from the organization.
