The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) will not stop supporting rural communities in Somalia with emergency cash assistance.
FAO promised this on Thursday.
It has been running the emergency cash assistance program jointly with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
FAO and USAID said the program would continue in the face of the ongoing drought in Somalia.
According to both organizations, the ongoing drought is not only the longest but also the most severe in Somalia’s recent history.
Often, the program is the only lifeline that vulnerable communities and households around the country have.
