FAO Calls for Urgent Agricultural Assistance to Help Somalia’s Recovery

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has called for urgent agricultural assistance for Somalia to help the country’s recovery.

FAO Somalia issued a report detailing the extent of assistance that the East African country needs.

In its estimates, FAO called upon the international community to release $247.7 million to Somalia to enable the recovery.

FAO stated that the funds would be sufficient for up to 2.1 million Somalis.

It added that the situation Somalia finds itself in is because of the poor rains it has experienced since 2020 as well as high food prices, conflict, floods, and disease outbreaks.
