The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) needs close to $131.4 million to improve access to food for the people of Somalia.
FAO announced this on May 12.
According to its report, FAO indicated that the United Nations family has already stepped in to offer more support for humanitarian efforts in the East African nation.
However, FAO believes that more needs to be done.
In its report, FAO mentions the devastating effect that the ongoing drought has brought on the people and livestock of Somalia.
Somalis continue to lose their livestock at a faster rate than previously envisaged.
FAO said that the funds would assist close to 882,000 people in Somalia.
Millions of people in Somalia are at risk of starvation and famine. Many more are losing their livestock to the drought too.
