FAO Promises Improved Support for Somalia’s Sustainable Fisheries Sector

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is prepared to support the sustainable fisheries sector in Somalia further.

FAO said this on June 8 during the World Oceans Day.

It stated that the East African nation carries immense potential through its 3,300km coastline.

According to FAO, the 1 million km² Exclusive Economic Zone in the country also gives it added advantage over other nations.

In its statement, FAO reiterated the fact that Somalia’s sustainable fisheries sector is capable of transforming agrifood systems while driving economic growth in the country for decades to come.
