FAO Provides Emergency Treatment Services to 11 Million Livestock in Somalia

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) provided emergency treatment services to more than 11 million livestock in Somalia.

FAO announced that it has successfully led the treatment of livestock belonging to 275,000 rural families in the East African nation.

The organization carried out the emergency treatment campaign with the assistance of the Qatar Fund for Development and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Qatar Fund and USAID both provided funding for the treatment campaign.

The US Embassy in Mogadishu added that it supported the campaign because of the desire to ensure that disease does not follow drought.

Currently, Somalia is experiencing one of the worst droughts in its history.

Millions of people and livestock are at risk of famine, diseases, and death.
