Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) received a donation of $639,386 from the government of the United Kingdom to monitor the food situation in Somalia.
The funds are to enable FAO to monitor food security and the situation the East African nation is in nutritionally.
Further, FAO announced that the funds were released under a project known as “Mitigating and Responding to Growing Food Security Threats in Somalia.”
FAO is scheduled to implement the project from October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.
With the funds in place, FAO expects to witness a strengthening of the livelihoods of vulnerable households in the Horn of Africa country.
Additionally, the funds are crucial for sustaining a project that seeks to make “vulnerable populations more resilient to future shocks.”
