FAO Representative in Somalia Visits Drought-Stricken Families in Hargeisa

Etienne Peterschmitt, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative for Somalia, has visited drought-stricken families in Hargeisa.

The FAO Representative visited the families in the Somaliland capital on February 2.

Hargesia, just as is the case with other parts of Somalia and Somaliland, is feeling the effects of the ongoing drought in the East African region.

His visit mostly focused on areas reeling under acute shortage of water and food.

Currently, FAO has launched a cash support program for individuals grappling with the effects of the ongoing drought.

The cash transfers are designed to help rural communities to buy food.

It’s also for the victims of the ongoing drought who wish to protect their livelihoods as the drought continues to bite.
