The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has said that the locust infestation bedeviling Somalia remains classified as “dangerous.”
FAO has indicated that Somalia is not yet out of the woods where invasion of the country by desert locusts is concerned.
“Dangerous” remains the highest threat level.
According to the global body, immature forms continued to form in July in various parts of the country, especially in both Puntland and Somaliland.
The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) deployed its officers throughout the country to survey the infestation.
They reported that immature swarms were present in groups around the East African nation.
FAO has expressed gratitude to the multitude of partners who continue contributing finances, equipment, personnel, and other resources towards eradicating locusts from Somalia.
