FAO & USAID Launch Climate Resilience Initiative in Southern Somalia

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has launched a climate resilience initiative jointly with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The initiative is primarily for the residents of southern Somalia.

FAO and USAID launched the flagship initiative this week on Thursday.

Residents of southern Somalia can expect to reap massively from the initiative

The initiative, known as Reducing Communities’ Vulnerability to Drought and External Shocks, will benefit roughly 54,000 in rural areas of south Somalia.

It will allow farmers to access quality equipment faster and support income diversification.

The initiative comes at the right time considering the hardships Somalis in rural areas have endured for the last few years due to drought.
