FAO Works Closely with Marka Residents to Improve Access to Safe Water

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has been working closely with residents of the Marka district to improve access to safe water.

The joint venture between FAO and the more than 3,000 members of the local community has granted residents improved access to water.

Access to water is a huge problem in Somalia.

Currently, the East African nation faces one of its worst droughts, which makes starvation and famine likely scenarios.

The European Union (EU) in Somalia has also joined FAO to make access to water no longer a pipedream to the local residents of Marka.

On April 11, FAO and EU Somalia announced plans to continue with the project.
