Farah Nur Elected New FESOJ Secretary General

Farah Nur has been elected the new Secretary General of the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ).

Nur takes over from Mohamed Moalimuu, his predecessor, who not only resigned but also joined the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) as a spokesperson.

The new Secretary General was elected when FESOJ’s Supreme Council and the Executive Committee met on January 18.

Nur is one of the most respected veteran journalists in Somalia.

The FESOJ constitution mandates him to remain in office until June 2023 when Somali journalists would get a chance to approve or reject his election.

Nur has worked in the media industry for more than 30 years.

Previously, he worked with Radio Mogadishu and Somali National Television (STV).

Additionally, Nur worked with the British Media Action for a long time.

He is not an outsider in the FESOJ circles having worked with the organization as its Training Secretary since its establishment.
