President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s allies have emerged victorious in the ongoing House of the People (Lower House) elections.
The President’s allies won their seats in Galmudug and Southwest states.
One of the winners was Mohamed Mursal, the Speaker of the House of the People.
Mursal won his seat after garnering 88 votes. His sole opponent, Faysal Ibrahim, received no vote.
Twelve votes were labeled spoilt in the Southwest polls, which took place on November 27.
Delegates will be electing two more lawmakers today in Southwest.
Meanwhile, Abdishakur Ali Mire was triumphant in Galmudug. Mire is another ally of the Somalia President.
As of today, Galmudug has elected five Members of Parliament (MPs) to Southwest’s one.
