President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo met with Osman Mohamed, the Speaker of HirShabelle State Parliament, in Mogadishu as the wait for a new Prime Minister continues.
Last Saturday, the House of Representatives, which is known as the Lower House, passed a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.
Farmaajo appointed Mahdi M. Gulaid, as the country’s Acting Prime Minister.
However, the search for a substantive Prime Minister continues.
On Thursday, Farmaajo and Speaker Mohamed met in Mogadishu to discuss various issues of national importance.
Speaker Mohamed said the meeting focused on numerous development issues.
He said they also talked about the recurrent flooding in HirShabelle, which has displaced thousands of people from their homes.
Dahir Jesow, an outspoken legislator in the federal parliament, stated that the meeting was crucial for HirShabelle, which strives to rebuild its economy and institutions.
