President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble arrived in Dhusamareb on February ahead of the start of the fresh round of talks on elections.
Last week, Farmaajo assured the international community that he would lead a fresh round of talks between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).
Farmaajo announced that the fresh FGS-FMS talks would seek solutions for the ongoing elections impasse.
A few weeks ago, Prime Minister Roble announced that parliamentary elections would take place in Southwest, Galmudug, and HirShabelle regional states.
He omitted Puntland and Jubbaland from the list.
Consequently, there was a lot of uproar around the country at the omission of the two regional states, which have been critical of Farmaajo’s rule for years.
The new Dhusamareb talks are scheduled to take place from February 1-3.
Thereafter, President Farmaajo would return to Mogadishu where he would address the Upper House and Lower House on agreements reached between FGS and FMS in Dhusamareb.
