President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has appointed a new Special Representative for the Horn of Africa region.
Farmaajo appointed Yusuf Garaad Omar, the former British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) service editor, the new Special Envoy for the region.
Omar takes over from Mohamed Bilal.
Omar once served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
With the new appointment in place, he would be Somalia’s Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
His appointment is effective immediately.
