President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has sent a message of condolences to the family and friends of Badal Jama Hirsi.
Hirsi is one of Somalia’s most recognizable poets.
The poet, who also served as a traditional elder, died after unknown persons shot and killed him in Mogadishu.
The incident took place on April 18.
Farmaajo mourned Hirsi as a patriot whose death has left many Somalis in the country and beyond shocked and in grief.
