President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has left Somalia to attend the 2021 Turkey Africa Summit.
The two-day 2021 Turkey Africa Summit will run from December 17-18.
Previously, the summit has taken place in 2008 and 2014.
Organizers had to postpone it twice primarily because of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, which made such meetings impossible to hold.
However, this year’s event will proceed as planned.
Farmaajo’s plane departed from the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu on December 16.
He travels to Turkey at the invitation of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
President Farmaajo will join other leaders from the African continent who include Nigeria’s President Muhammad Buhari.
The summit will take place in Istanbul.
First Lady Saynab Abdi Moalim and several senior officers from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) accompanied Farmaajo.
