President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has said that he would be forfeiting his salary for the next two months.
A notice from the Office of the President in Villa Somalia made this announcement on November 26.
According to the notice, President Farmaajo’s salaries for November and December 2021 would go into boosting the country’s relief efforts.
Currently, Somalia is in the middle of what threatens to be a devastating humanitarian crisis.
The delayed rains have created a serious lack of food from the prevailing drought.
Consequently, millions of Somalis around the country are at risk of starving to death.
The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and international organizations in Somalia have repeatedly called for humanitarian assistance.
