President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has invited regional state leaders to Mogadishu for the next round of talks to solve the months-long electoral impasse.
Farmaajo sent a letter to each of the leaders of the Federal Member States (FMS).
Among those expected to show up in the nation’s capital for Monday’s talks include President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland.
Others include Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Islam Madobe, Southwest’s Abdiaziz Mohamed Laftagareen, and HirShabelle’s President Ali Guudlaawe.
Galmudug’s President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor and Banadir Regional Authority’s Governor Omar Filish are also expected for the talks.
The latest talks are being held at the instigation of international partners.
Facilities at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu were chosen as the ideal and neutral venue for the talks.
