President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s name has been mentioned in this week’s destruction of a boarding school in Mogadishu.
Abdirahman Odowaa, a serving federal Member of Parliament (MP), said that Farmaajo was behind plans to grab the school’s land.
Odowaa claims that Farmaajo sent police officers to spearhead the demolition of Hoyga Hamar School.
He said that Farmaajo is orchestrating plans to grab the land on which the school stands while hiding behind a group of businessmen.
The school’s demolition took place on February 26 at 4am.
Odowaa said that the land on which the school was built belongs to the Ministry of Education.
The education ministry had taken the issue to the court for determination.
However, General Abdi Hussein Hijar, the Chief of Somali Police Force (SPF), denied such claims.
Instead, he said that his officers have launched investigations into the matter and would arrest anyone involved in the destruction of the school.
