President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia has officially opened the third round of the Dhusamareb talks.
The President opened the talks on the morning of Tuesday August 18.
A statement from Villa Somalia acknowledged Farmaajo’s role in the ongoing talks to discuss the country’s upcoming elections.
Three leaders from the Federal Member States (FMS) are at the meeting too.
These include President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor of Galmudug, President Mohamed Abdi Waare of HirShabelle, and President Abdiasis Lafta-Gareen of the Southwest state.
Moreover, Mayor Omar Filish of Mogadishu is at the meeting too.
Nevertheless, two influential leaders – President Ahmed Islam Madobe of Jubbaland and President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland – have skipped the meeting.
The two leaders said they would only attend if the international community sent their representatives to guarantee the full implementation of all agreements signed in Dhusamareb.
