President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has ordered Fahad Yasin to continue with his duties as the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
Farmaajo issued the orders on September 6.
His orders came a few moments after Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble announced Yasin’s sacking as the chief spy.
Roble said that Yasin would no longer continue working as the NISA Director following his failure to tell the country what really befell Ikran Tahlil, a female agent who was recently murdered.
The Prime Minister had rejected NISA’s explanation that Tahlil died at the hands of Al-Shabaab.
He consequently gave NISA and Yasin 48 hours to provide accurate information on the agent’s death.
The deadline expired on Sunday night.
Abdirashid Hashi, the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, relayed Farmaajo’s orders to the press and the country at large on Monday.
