Farmaajo Prohibits Roble from Hiring or Firing Government Officials

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has declared that Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Roble no longer has the authority to hire and fire government officials.

Farmaajo released a statement on Thursday, September 16 stating that Prime Minister Roble’s powers for hiring and firing officials now remain suspended.

The two leaders have been at loggerheads for a while now.

However, their differences are now played publicly, especially since the death of a female National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) agent.

The death of Ikran Tahlil, the young female intel officer, forced Roble to fire Fahad Yasin and Hassan Hundubey Jimale.

Yasin had been the Head of NISA while Hundubey served as the Minister of Internal Security.

While suspending Roble’s hiring and firing powers, President Farmaajo stated that the Prime Minister had repeatedly violated the constitution.

According to Farmaajo’s statement, Prime Minister Roble will only be able to hire and fire officials at the end of the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.

Roble is yet to comment on this latest development.
