Outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has handed over the file on Somali soldiers who were trained in Eritrea to the new President.
Farmaajo handed over the file to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on May 23.
The event took place during Monday’s handing over ceremony.
Around 5,000 Somali soldiers were trained in Eritrea but they have never returned to Somalia to put their newly acquired skills to use.
Their training caused a huge uproar in Somalia.
In some quarters, it was believed that the Somali soldiers trained in Eritrea joined Ethiopia’s government troops in the deadly war against Tigray forces.
