Farmaajo Sacks Prime Minister Roble

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has sacked Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble from office.

Farmaajo announced the Prime Minister’s dismissal on Monday, December 27.

While announcing his dismissal, Farmaajo said that the Prime Minister was guilty of corruption and misuse of office.

The misuse of office charge follows the recent accusations that Prime Minister Roble seeks to grab land belonging to Somali Coastguard.

Allegedly, he intends to use the Coastguard land for private use.

Farmaajo’s move is likely to come under heavy criticism considering that he can only appoint but not sack a Prime Minister.

The power to sack a Prime Minister rests solely with parliament.
