President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has signed the bill extending his term in office by two years into law.
Reports from Mogadishu said that Farmaajo signed the bill on April 13.
He signed it a few hours after the House of Representatives voted to extend his term, which expired on February 8, by two more years.
Radio Mogadishu confirmed that he appended his signature to the bill.
The decision to extend Farmaajo’s term has come under intense scrutiny and condemnation from Somalia and the country’s international partners.
