Reports from Villa Somalia indicate that President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo would like a current regional leader to vie for a parliamentary seat.
According to the sources, Farmaajo wants Southwest’s President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen to vie for a seat in the ongoing House of the People elections.
This follows a meeting between Farmaajo, Laftagareen, and Fahad Yasin.
Yasin is one of President Farmaajo’s closest allies. He has already won a seat at the Lower House.
Yasin is also the immediate former Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
If Laftagareen goes for the parliamentary seat, Farmaajo and Yasin would have to find a replacement for him as the new Southwest leader.
