President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia traveled to South Sudan to witness the signing of the Juba Peace Agreement.
Political leaders in Sudan signed the peace accord on Saturday, October 3.
Farmaajo commended the country’s leadership for putting aside their differences to sign such a historic deal.
He also “commended the efforts by the Transitional Government of Sudan and the Sudanese Revolutionary Movements for the role they played in reaching this milestone.”
President Farmaajo assured Sudan of the support of his government and all Somalis as it pursues stability, unity, and prosperity of its people.
The agreement was between the Transitional Government of Sudan and several rebel groups. It was signed a year after peace talks began.
