President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s National Security Advisor has denied the report by the Global Initiative linking Somalia’s money transfer businesses with illegal arms trade.
Last week, the Global Initiative published a widely circulated report indicating that illegal arms traders have been using money transfer firms in Somalia.
However, Abdisaid M. Ali, the National Security Advisor to President Farmaajo has termed the reports “false.”
He supports the statement earlier issued by Iftin Express, one of the companies mentioned in the report.
According to Ali, the Global Initiative report relied on nothing other than “falsified and forged receipts” from unknown sources.
