President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s spokesperson has denied reports that the government hired influencers to smear political opponents.
Abdirashid M. Hashi, the Director of Communications in the Office of the President, clarified this issue on January 30.
He denied reports that the government had hired influential individuals on Twitter and Facebook on a smear campaign.
Hashi said that social media has given everyone an opportunity for expressing their freedom of speech.
The spokesperson stated that all Somalis on social media are free to defend their nationhood.
