Favori LLC, a Turkish company managing operations at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport, claims to be the sole entity authorized to collect navigation fees at the airport.
The Turkish firm was awarded the contract to manage the airport in 2013 and has since been responsible for handling its services, including security, operations, and maintenance.
Its claim to exclusive rights for collecting navigation fees is tied to this management agreement.
Favori was responding to reports claiming that the federal government of Somalia had permitted NAV-PASS the rights to collect navigation fees at the airport.
NAV-PASS is a United Arab Emirates (UAE) company.
The company argues that any other entity attempting to collect these fees would be operating outside the established legal framework.
This arrangement has, at times, led to disputes regarding fee collection and service management at the airport.
Such disputes reflect broader concerns about transparency and the terms of similar agreements in Somalia.
