A Somali federal Member of Parliament (MP) has called the ongoing clashes a “violation against humanity.”
Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu, a House of the People (Lower House) legislator, condemned the clashes that have thus far claimed several lives.
He urged authorities to allow the local residents to exercise their constitutional right of demonstrating peacefully.
Specifically, Moalimuu spoke out against the decision by Somaliland authorities to use live bullets as a tool for dispersing the protestors.
An unknown number of the demonstrators have lost their lives while many more are in hospital nursing their wounds.
