The Federal Elections Implementation Team (FEIT) has rejected reports that Fahad Yasin emerged victorious in elections held in Beledweyne on Sunday, February 20.
A communiqué from FEIT reiterates the electoral body’s stance that elections for the HOP#086 seat in HirShabelle remain suspended.
Yasin is the immediate former Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
He’s also one of the closest allies of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
Ex-Director Yasin had been one of the candidates in the elections for six House of the People (Lower House) seats that took place this weekend.
FEIT said that the results of the other five seats would stand.
