The Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT) has announced the dates for selection of delegates for the Lower House polls.
On Wednesday, December 23, FEIT announced the date for this crucial task as January 7, 2021.
Consequently, the announcement now means that election of candidates interested in representing their constituencies in the Lower House will take place next year.
Initially, Somalia was to organize parliamentary elections in December 2020.
However, that now seems more unlikely.
The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has failed to prepare adequately for timely elections, especially after it could not honor several critical timelines.
Despite this important development, it is worth mentioning that the exact elections dates are yet to be announced.
