FEIT Warns Team over Parallel Elections in Garbaharey for Lower House Seats

The Federal Elections Implementation Team (FEIT) has warned its officers who traveled to Garbaharey purportedly to conduct parallel House of the People (Lower House) elections.

Muse Gelleh Yusuf, the Chairman of the FEIT, issued the warning to members of his electoral body on April 20.

He warned them following reports that Governor Ahmed Bulle of the Gedo region had received a team from FEIT in the region.

Governor Bulle said that the team arrived in the region on Tuesday.

There are fears that the team in Garbaharey wants to conduct parallel elections for the remaining 16 Lower House seats from Jubbaland.

Gelleh’s team had relocated the elections to El-Wak.

Apparently, Garbaharey had proved to be too insecure and unsafe for holding the federal parliament elections.

The FEIT Chairman vowed that the members of the poll body who proceed to hold the polls in Garbaharey would face consequences for their actions.
